Capoeira Duo
Two capoeiristas playing together with recorded high-energy music. They will display the interaction and dialogue of Capoeira which normally takes place inside a circle or "Roda" (pronounced "Ho-da") by demostrating a variety of movements from fundamental kicks to stylistic acrobatics.
Capoeira and Maculele
Same as above, with the addition of a "Maculele" demonstration. Maculele is an African dance originally (and sometimes still) performed with machetes. Our demonstration will be done using wooden dowels instead. Maculele is performed to a particular rhythm, with songs that are specific to it. Like Capoeira, it is performed by two people at a time inside a Roda, They hit the machetes (dowels) together in mock aggression while expressing any number of rhythmic dance movements.
Capoeira, Maculele and Samba
Same as above, with the addition of a samba troupe of varying size, but including at least one "Samba Girl" in traditional Carnival-style attire. The group will demonstrate their skill in the art of samba footwork. As always, audience participation is encouraged.
Capoeira, Maculele, Samba and Samba Band
Same as above, with the addition of an authentic Brazilian Samba band who will perform for the remainder of the night. Always entertaining, Samba bands have a way of keeping any dance floor moving.
